Course Outline
  • Pre-Calculus is an advanced level mathematics
    course with two main objectives
  • APPLY the concepts of Intermediate Algebra (and
    go into further detail).
  • Introduce higher level concepts needed for
    success in Calculus.
  • District prerequisite is completion of Algebra II
    with a C- or better.
  • Topics Include
  • Linear Relations, Functions (Polynomial,
    Trigonometric, Exponential, Logarithmic), Systems
    of Linear Inequalities, Conics, Introductory
    Topics in Probability, Statistics.

Grading Policy
  • Composition of Grade (First Semester)
  • Homework / Class work - 15
  • GROUP Quizzes - 10
  • Tests - 60 (One test re-take each semester)
  • Final Exam - 15
  • Grade updates are completed after each chapter.
  • If you would like to receive grade updates,
    e-mail me with your students name and I will add
    you to the mailing list. Be sure to allow spam
    filters to accept my e-mail address.

Homework
  • Homework should be considered a WORK ETHIC grade.
  • Homework assignments are given out for the entire
    chapter
  • Students can work in advance.
  • Students can do homework if they are at home
    sick.
  • Expect homework every night including weekends.

Homework
  • STUDENTS RECIEVE 100 FOR HOMEWORK AS LONG AS
    THEY
  • Check their odd answers against the back of the
    book.
  • Correct papers in class as we talk about
    problems/answers.
  • Leave no blank answers (they must at least ask a
    clarifying question).
  • Show work where appropriate.
  • Complete the assignment.
  • PLEASE NOTE THAT I PUT THE ONUS ON THE STUDENT IN
    PRE-CALCULUS TO COMPLETE AND UNDERSTAND THE
    ASSIGNMENTS.

  • I have learned in my years of teaching that not
    enough students come in for extra help even
    though they know they are confused. Please
    encourage your child to seek extra help at the
    first sign of trouble.
