Once upon a time
  • Good morning boys and girls! This is a story of
    a second grade class that wanted to learn how to
    write a really good story.
  • The students made a lot of new friends Mr. Plot,
    Mrs. Setting, Miss. Character, Madam Irony, Sir
    Theme, Mr. Symbolism, and finally Doctor Title.
  • Their teacher introduced all the students to
    these nice friends by making a special
    presentation on the computer just for them...
  • HERE IT IS!

Mr. Plot
Plot is the events in a story and their order.
  • Write several sentences about your storys events
  • List the important events of your story in order.

Mrs. Setting
Setting means when and where the story takes
place.
  • Tell when your story occurred.
  • Tell where your story occurred.

The setting of your story could be
In a castle far away, long, long ago
Under the sea where treasure lies
On a ship bound for adventure
In outer space where the possibilities are
endless

Miss Character
Character means what people are in the story.
  • Who is the main character of your story?
  • Who is the protagonist in your story?
  • (The good guy)
  • Why is the antagotonist in your story?
  • (The bad guy)
  • List the qualities, descriptions, and personality
    traits of the characters in your story.

The main character could be
A handsome cowboy
A knight in shining armor
A beautiful princess
An ancient king or queen
A wacky robot
Or even yourself!

Madam Irony
Irony is when something happens in the story that
the reader did not expect.
  • Explain something in your story that is unexpected

Irony could happen if
  • All of a sudden the mystery turned out to be a
    surprise birthday party!
  • Or maybe the bully who was stealing your lunch
    was really your next door neighbor's dog!
  • Or maybe your aunt Gertrude was really a green
    slime machine from outer space that came to
    invade the earth and eat all your Valentines
    Candy!

Sir Theme
Theme is the main message that a story tells the
reader.
  • Write something you learned from your story.
  • This is a called a universal message.

Mr. Symbolism
An example of symbolism is the illustrations of
the important events in a story.
  • Draw a picture of an important object or clue or
    scene to represent your story.

Dr. Title
The title is the name of your story.
  • What do you want to call your story?
