  • Ancient Egyptians lived long ago. Some people had
    unique haircuts, furniture, food, and were
    mummified. Heres how Egyptians lived in their
    culture.

WHERE DID EGYPTIANS LIVE?
  • Ancient Egyptians lived in houses made by bricks
    and mud
  • Egyptians put straw and pebbles in bricks to
    harden
  • Egyptians left the bricks outside in the sun to
    dry
  • When the bricks were dry the Egyptians created
    their own houses

WHAT KIND OF FURNITUER DID EGYPTIANS HAVE?
  • The furniture they had was stools and beds. The
    stools were made out of wood and had padded
    leather or woven rush seat. The stools 3 or 4
    legs were often carved to look like animal legs.
    The beds they had were rectangular wooden frames
    with a mat of woven cords. Instead of using
    pillows, the Egyptians used a crescent-shaped
    headrest at one end of the bed .

WHAT KIND OF GAMES DID EGYPTIANS HAVE?
  • Ancient Egyptians had all kinds of games for fun
    and fitness. As the same as pictures, board games
    have also been found in tombs from the same time.
    A lot of the fitness type of games drawn in
    paintings of common games such as hockey, which
    used long palm tree branches for sticks and a
    puck made from stuffed papyrus in between two
    pieces of leather.

WHAT KIND OF FOOD DID EGYPTIANS EAT?
  • The Egyptians ate a great amount of grain, fish,
    and fruits. Fish, just like grain, was a huge
    part of the Egyptians daily diet. Eating fish was
    some of the upper class Egyptians, and fish was
    never used as grave offering. Meat was eaten by
    normal people only on special reasons, because
    the high price and scarceness of cattle. The rich
    Egyptians could afford to have meat in every meal
    and they did. The different type of meats
    included beef, pork, geese, duck, a variety of
    birds, sheep, and goats.

WHY WERE EGYPTIANS MUMMIFIED?
  • Mummification was a ritual, so the priests who
    participated were trained to perform the process
    with both surgical and ritual precision. . The
    first step in the process was to make a cut in
    the abdomen, below the ribs, on the left side of
    the body. This first incision was done with a
    special flint knife, and all other cutting was
    done with an ordinary metal blade. They had to
    cut into the body so that they could take out
    special organs. Next the brain would be extracted
    through the nose and then thrown away. After
    that, the body and organs were saved by putting
    spices and dried out in natron salt. The entire
    process took about 70 days. Then the body was
    wrapped in linen.

  • Children had unusual hairstyles in ancient Egypt.
    Their hair was shaved off except a lock of hair
    left on the side of the head. Men wore their hair
    short and left their ears visible. Women wore
    their hair smooth, close coiffure with a long
    curl.
