My Experience in the Ag Program

Myself

• My name is Mara Young. I am a sophomore at
  Clovis East. I got involved in the ag program
  and FFA last spring. Id been in 4-H since 4th
  grade, but I learned more and had more fun in FFA
  and ag in those 4 months than I had in the 5
  years that I was in 4-H.

Classroom Experience

• Ive taken Ag Biology, Ag 1, and Environmental
  Science. Ive had Mr. Woodard, Mr. Dias, Ms.
  Grifiths, and Ms. Blackwell as teachers. My
  favorite class has been Environmental Science.
  Weve learned so much in that class and we get to
  go outside and get our hands dirty, literally.

My SAE Horses

• My SAE consists of a mare, MaRani, who I show
  and event with. I bought her this year and plan
  to breed her eventually.

My SAE Breeding Beef

• My beef project consists of a Shorthorn heifer.
  I plan to breed her in June. Ill be showing her
  at Fresno Fair and State Fair.

My SAE Sheep Dogs

My puppy, Roxy, is a purebred border collie. This
summer, I hope to take her to the Meeker Sheep
Dog Trial in Meeker, Colorado. Also, When shes
old enough, I plan too breed her.

FFA Experience

• I was a member of the BIG team my Freshman year
  and was 4th high individual in the state. This
  year I am on the Livestock team. This year I did
  Opening and Closing and was on the Novice Farm
  Records team (I was 2nd high and our team was 1st
  high). All the teams have been a lot of fun and I
  have learned a lot!

Summary

• Thru the ag program and FFA, Ive met a lot of
  friends and had lots of fun. There are things
  that Ive learned that I only would've learned
  thru ag.
