  • Child Friendly Pick-Ups Ways You Can Help Foster
    Good Self-Esteem
  • Your child has not seen you all day and is
looking forward to seeing you. They have so much
to share with you about their day and feel good
about themselves when you are interested in how
their day went. Here are some suggestions for
    child friendly pick-ups
  • Have a regular pick-up routine.
  • Some ideas could be picking up
  • buckets and giving high fives or
  • blowing kisses and then a bear
  • hug.
  • Look around the classroom. Let
  • your child tell you about their art
  • projects or the jobs they were
  • assigned for the day.
  • Make a game out of the car ride.
  • Ask them to tell you about three
  • things they did today or tell you
  • their favorite thing about the day.
  • Turn your cell phone off. This
  • makes your child feel important and
  • gives you the opportunity to focus
  • on them.

Congratulations to Berke Erdem and family on
their new addition, Deren Erdem. Congratulations
to Madeline Kester and family on their new
addition, Isaac Kester.

Spring Forward and Investigate By Dr. Osborne
Abbey Spring is a season full of
opportunities for investigation with your child.
From changes in the weather to the flowers in
bloom, your surroundings provide learning
experiences that allow children to question,
ponder, make predictions, investigate, and draw
conclusions. To begin, prompt your child to
think about all the changes they see around them
at this time of year. What do they see? How has
it changed? Brainstorm together and make a list
of seasonal changes. It is important to include
all of your childs ideas, even those that may
not be completely accurate. Through
investigation, you will be able to guide them to
discover how their thinking may be right on or
may need to be adjusted. From this list,
generate conversation in order to assess your
childs understanding of the changes that spring
brings. For example, -Do all trees grow new
leaves in the spring? -How long does it take a
flower to grow and bloom? -What is your
favorite change? During these discussions, it is
important to listen to their questions and/or
responses to determine what they are curious
about. Finally, use their questions to
create an investigation. Depending on their
development stage, some preschoolers will be
ready to figure out how they can answer their
questions while others will need your guidance.
For example, -Lets take a walk and count all the
trees that are growing new leaves this spring.
-Lets plant a flower seed and keep track of how
many days it takes to grow. Before beginning the
investigation, have your child make a prediction
and explain their thinking. Following an
investigation, help your child draw conclusions.
Did the experiment turn out how they expected?
Were they surprised by what they discovered?
Often one discovery leads to more curiosity so
be prepared to question, predict, and investigate
all spring long!
  • Friendly Reminders
  • Please remember to check-in
  • with the clipboard person
  • when dropping off your child.
  • Please do not allow children
  • to push the gate buttons.
  • Take a look at all our extra
  • curricular activities we offer.
  • We have some new, exciting
  • programs that just started.
