  • In 2007, National Organizations for Youth Safety
(NOYS) began the National Youth Traffic Safety
Month campaign in conjunction with the United
    Nations Global Road Safety Week.
  • Each May NOYS hopes to encourage teen-to-teen
safe driving projects in advance of the deadly
prom, graduation and summer driving seasons.
  • In the first two years of the campaign, more than
250 National Youth Traffic Safety Month teen-led
    projects were conducted nationwide.
  • In both 2007 and 2008 the 50 top projects that
were registered National Youth Traffic Safety
Month projects received a 1,000 awards
  • In 2009, our goal is to further increase
visibility of National Youth Traffic Safety Month
and increase the number of teens involved in the
    campaign.

  • Notre Dame Preparatory spread the word about safe
teen driving awareness via a number of different
school activities, such as skits, videos, guest
speakers to talk about risks teen drivers face, a
school assembly, a mock car crash, contests
between homerooms to get students to join
keepthedrive.com and visuals around the school.
The team worked with the Scottsdale Police
Department to make the mock car crash a more

the Act Out Loud program by hosting a teen
driving safety forum on April 26, as a service

Strategic Highway Safety Plan, which emphasized
the need to focus on teen driver crash rates and
the root causes. The videos enforced seatbelt use
and raised awareness about the most dangerous
