Water Accommodated Fraction (WAF) Production and
Analysis

• In order to know the concentration of oil to add
  to tank we first need to how much oil dissolves
  in water (WAF).
• Prepared 36 g of Na and 900 mL of tap water.
• The oil (Quaker State) was then added at a ratio
  of 91 (900ml seawater100ml oil). The seawater
  and oil solution was mixed using a magnetic
  stirrer for 20 hours and left to settle for the
  next week to use in each experiment.

Today

• Today we will calculate the WAF.
• We will also try to begin the experiment by
  adding a estimated amount of oil and seeing what
  happens. By taking the 3 test counts we can
  determine if the added amount of oil was too much
  or too little.
