• To swear an oath was literally to seven oneself
• Author tells us God created world in 7 days
• Another way to say God was sevening himself
• 7th Day, or the Sabbath was the sign of the
  covenant between God and creation.

• Want to make a name for themselves
• Want to determine what is good and evil

• God will give him land
• Fulfilled when Moses leads the nation of Israel
  (descendents of Abraham) into the Promised Land.
• God will make his name great
• Fulfilled when David establishes the Dynasty /
  Kingdom of Israel
• God will bless all the families through Abrahams
  offspring
• Fulfilled in Jesus Christ, son of David, son of
  Abraham (Mt 11)
