ICP Monitoring Quick Reference
ICP monitoring- Assists in the detection of
increasing ICP and compromised CPP before changes
seen in the neurologic exam. Also evaluates the
effectiveness of treatment. The Camino is a fiber
optic ICP system uses digital pressure monitor.
The transducer is located at the tip of the
catheter. Calibration is done by the manufacturer
of the catheter. It is a closed system with no
air fluid interface. The Ventriculostomy- Is a
fluid coupled system much like hemodynamic
monitoring systems (except no continuous
infusion to keep open). Transducer is external
and must be kept at a fixed reference point (ear)
Advantage Can drain CSF. Disadvantage CSF
drainage and ICP measurement can not be done at
the same time.

• HOW TO
• Obtain Integra- CAMINO digital pressure monitor
  from
• clean equipment room.
• Place on IV pole
• Plug into wall outlet.
• Attach the white adapter cable from the back
  of the
• Camino digital pressure monitor To the bedside
  pressure
• module.
• Set bedside pressure SCALE to 0-30 mmhg
• (May need to be adjusted if ICP Exceeds 30
  mmhg)
• Turn on Power Start/Stop button
• The display will indicate 888 on AC
• Power 8 Battery power.
• CCC means check connection
