Introduction
  • There are many different E-mail clientsPegasus is
    one of the least known but consistently ranks as
    one of the bestWell explore Pegasus for
    beginners and for advanced usersThis is not a
    class in Pine or our new Sun WebAccess (which are
    other E-mail clients) although we could answer
    questions about them at the end

Overview of Client-Server Model of E-mail System
  • Server computer software that collects and
    transmits EVERYONEs email msgs
  • Client computer software that reads the
    INDIVIDUAL USERs email msgs
  • In our system, Pericles is the server, and
    Pegasus is a client email application
  • The email initially resides on Pericles, and
    Pegasus downloads it to the local client
    computer.
  • (NOTE this is a default that we can change)

    server (Pericles) deletes email in users account
