    of pollution incidents

Implementation
  • Anyone storing 200 litres or more above ground at
    industrial or commercial facilities, or gt3500
    litres domestic
  • 01/03/02 All new oil containers1
  • 01/09/03 All existing containers at significant
    risk2
  • 01/09/05 All remaining containers3
  • Note 1 the Environment Agency recommends that
    oil drums are viewed as new containers
  • Note 2 significant risk within 10m of waters
    or 50m from well or borehole
  • Note 3 can be earlier if EA serves a notice

What is a mobile bowser?
  • an oil storage container that can not move under
    its own power i.e. it is not a rigid or
    articulated road tanker, but is specifically
    designed to be capable of storing and dispensing
    oil and being moved between various locations.
