3CURRENT STATUS OF AGRICULTURE IN DELHI
- Delhi is primarily a City State and has limited
land under Agriculture and shrinking fast due to
rapid urbanization, industrialization and land
use for other non-agriculture purposes, the total
cropped has continuously been declining. Under
such condition, it is not possible to increase
the area, hence there is scope to increase the
production and productivity under
agri-horticultural crops. The position over the
last decade in respect of availability of land
for cultivation is as under - Year Total Cropped Area in Hectares
- 1990-91 76,239
- 2000-01 52,816
- 2004-05 41,508
- As per Delhi Master Plan 2021 published by
D.D.A., the total area earmarked for Delhi would
be available to the extent of 11.000 hect. for
agri.-horticulture, green belt, dairy etc. by the
