GISP Mission
To conserve biodiversity and sustain human
livelihoods by minimizing the spread and impact
of invasive alien species.

GISP and the CBD
  • In terms of an MoU with the Secretariat of the
    CBD and points in various COP decisions, GISP has
    been requested to take on a number of
    responsibilities in relation to the CBD Work
    Programme
  • - GISP has been designated as the International
    Thematic Focal Point on IAS under the
    Clearing-House Mechanism (CHM)
  • - Support to Global Taxonomy Initiative (GTI)
  • - Support to Global Plant Conservation Strategy
  • - A variety of capacity building and other
    activities as per COP V, VI and VII
