25
Project Yo-Yo
  • Only 18 of our communities children feel that
    the community values them.
  • Why?
  • The children do not see that the community has
created anything for them to do

27
Sandpoint Centre Corporation
  • Answers to the Basic Questions
  • What
  • Why
  • How Much

28
Financing
  • Facilities such as this do not attract private
    businesses
  • With a for-profit business, prices must be high
and thus exclude many in the community
  • Success depends on public money

29
Tax Increase (ahhhhh)
  • We are proposing a 38.00-48.00 dollar per 100K
    assessed value increase in taxes
  • For a 150K home this means 3.15-4.00 dollars
    per month
  • For the average home (240K) in our county this
means a 6.33-8.00 per month increase

30
Relative Cost
  • This is the cost of a small pizza per month

31
Financing
  • Funding of these facilities is common
  • Estimate of facility cost is 12 M dollars
  • Estimate of grants and donations are 2 M
  • Financing 10 M dollars will necessitate a 761K
    dollar per year payment

32
Financing
  • Estimated revenue from the tax increase will
generate between 823K and 1.02 M in the first
    year
  • This leaves 62K to 259K dollars in excess of the
    payment
  • Subsequent years will generate additional revenue

33
Financing
  • Additional funds will be used to supplement
operational costs of the Recreation Center
    (especially during the first years)
  • Additional funds will also be used to work on
future phases for the Recreation District (such
as basketball, volleyball, and tennis courts and
baseball, indoor and outdoor soccer, and softball
    fields)

34
Federal / State Grants
  • HUD (500K matching grant-McCall)
  • State of Idaho (500K grant McCall)
  • USA Swimming
  • National Hockey Association
  • National Ice Skating Association
  • Other Federal / State Grants
  • Other Private Grants
