Spring Warmth
Spring Warmth Noon clouds slowly vanish The birds
are singing Their resonant melody lighthearted
and happy I sit in silence The suns warmth on my
back
4
Visions of Home
Visions of Home Blue skies surround me
Leaves are rustling I close my eyes
And see endless fields With blissful
children Laughing joyously
5
Hope
Hope The day is lifeless A thick blanket of
clouds Replaces the radiance of the day All seems
dreary Save for a golden thread of
light Illuminating the darkened skies

Just Mine
Just
Mine My Mom The one with the short, brown
hair Which changes shades with every trip to the
salon The one who cant carry a tune, Because
her Spanish accent wont allow it. The one who
looks like my younger sister, becuase shes so
short She calls it petite See her? Shes the
one dancing by herself in the corner To a song
no ones ever heard of But shes enjoying it
either way. Sometimes I think shes too
crazy. She stares at me I cant stand it when
she does that Her brown, almond shaped eyes Look
inside me See inside me But Im never sure What
they see

Old Times
In places where cultures mixed Where friends
were made Where subway rides were only a nickel
And movies played for only a week On the
streets Paperboys were the only type of ads Their
shouts Could be heard over the noise Of the milk
trucks Honking To reach their destination New
York was a placeOpen to all From Irish to
African From big to small I wish I could see New
York In those days With its paperboys And subway
rides But most of all I wish Grandpa would come
back So he could tell me more stories When he
came home again
All I remember From when I was little Were the
visits to Grandpas house We drove and drove
Till we got to the part of town Where peddlers
were common And vegetables were fresh And when
we got there I would sit on Grandpas lap And beg
for a story About the old days in New York And
he would spin a tale So astonishing It was hard
to believe it was true He would tell me of his
trips Uptown, downtown, all over town

Gone
Gone is the wind That blew so harshly Gone is
the sun That warmed our backs But many a day
ago There were still these things Now life has no
wheel But alas, its still endless With nothing
to look forward to Nothing to look back on Yet
there were things That couldve been done To save
lifes wheel Many a day ago
9
Simplicity
Simple things are given When one reaches A true
moment Of complication

Holly
While I sit with homework weary On an otherwise
dreary day Its raining enough to fill lake
Erie But little Holly wants to play So I put
down all my text books And her tail starts to
wag She offers me a toywhich I take Though it
resembles a dirty rag When my day is nearly over
That little not-so-average Rover Curls up next
to me just waiting So I yawnshe starts
imitating Next thing I know Ive got a
puppy Fast asleep right next to me With her
gentle eyelids closed With a dog like thatIm so
lucky!
