2005 Annual ReportPastors Introduction My
dear friends at Saint Mark Parish This report
reflects only a part of our lives together here
at the Community of Saint Mark Parish. In some
ways, it is simply a list of numbers and a record
of activities. Yet it is a reflection of faith in
action and an ever growing desire to live the
Gospel, walk in the foot steps of Jesus, and
respond to the Spirits call to be good stewards,
to serve, to love, and to bear one anothers
burdens. There is no way to reflect the
spiritual dimension of a disciples life except
to observe what that disciple does because words
without deeds are nothing at all. This report is
then about deeds. It is about things done in
faith by a people who recognize their gifts, and
use those gifts as intended by God, the source of
those gifts. These deeds are ultimately about
glory, about praise, and about thanksgiving. What
you will find here is a reflection of the faith
lived by hundreds of volunteers who know that
communion in the church is about giving not about
taking. They know that being a Catholic, Baptized
in Christ means belonging to and sharing in
ministry and service in the name of the risen
Christ. Each of the Parish Organizations have
provided their report in this presentation. I
invite you to study this report carefully. Pause
the program from time to time to absorb the
details. At the conclusion, following the
financial statement I shall present a summary of
highlights from 2005 inviting you to renew your
commitment to Christ and His Church.

Highlights of 2005 in summary
  • It was our 14th year as a parish having grown
from the 300 families who gathered in Norman
hotel ballroom to the 1,077 who now consider this
their home parish. With a budget that now exceeds
one million dollars and a Catholic School that is
celebrating the 10th anniversary of its founding
as a project of the four parishes in Cleveland
County, our ministries reach wide and deep into
the lives of many. What you have seen in this
report is testimony of faith and stewardship. The
efforts and commitment of the leadership in Saint
Mark Parish is reflected here and as pastor I
salute their accomplishments. It was a year of
grace and opportunity. God has provided us with
    both.
  • Lost in all these statistics are a few
opportunities and projects that are worth
    remembering.
  • We have grown now into a true leadership role in
the Archdiocese with regard to Catholic Charities
and the Archdiocesan Development Fund. Now more
than ever before these ministries rely up on us.
  • In one week we contributed more than 36,000 to
the relief of suffering in the Gulf States caused
by Katrina. In addition, we embraced a family who
sought refuge among us giving so much assistance
that others were helped as well.
  • The MOMS program blossomed in 2005 with a
Mothers Retreat and the growth of the program
    with three more groups.
  • The Mothers Day Out Program with a small
beginning the year before is now an on-going
service with a long waiting list limited simply
    by the space available.
  • In less than one month we gathered the funds
needed to purchase the first organ for our five
    year old church.
  • The gift of a big screen projector has improved
our educational programs as well as given us an
opportunity to gather for fellowship and
    entertainment.
  • Summer Safari brought many of our children
together for the first Vacation Bible School
program held in our facilities. It was a
cooperative effort of many parish organizations.
  • In the Parish Office, computer upgrades have
    facilitated communication, accountability, and
    facility management.

44
Goals and Projects for 2006
  • Seal and Stripe Parking Lot
  • Founders Hall improvements including Sound
System, Lighting, Interior painting, and kitchen
    updates.
  • Playground
  • Phone Tree software for the Office
