  services via satellite
• Originally structured as an inter-governmental
  organization with 86 member countries
• Launched commercial satellite service in 1982
• Privatized in April 1999 and today is Inmarsat
  Ventures, Plc.
• System supports service to 280,000 vessels,
  vehicles, aircraft and individual users

  routes the call automatically to the correct
  satellite coverage area
• 871, 872, 873 and 874 address the mobile

  the ITU in 2009
• BGAN will operate under 870 ONLY from Day1
