Title: Ballroom CNet example

1
Ballroom CNet example
  • Ramon Brena
  • Multiagent Systems
  • http//lizt.mty.itesm.mx/rbrena/MAS

2
Ballroom situation
  • In a typical dancing ballroom there are four men
and four women waiting for the first song to
start. They are trying to find a dancing partner

3
CNet
  • They are going to use a Contract Net protocol,
where women are the managers and men are the
contractors. The process gets started when all
women call for proposals from men. For men, the
ideal woman is the closest one (taking the
    straight-line distance), regardless of other
attributes, so they will only answer to the two
closest women. Women, in contrast, will prefer
the best dancers, and we assume dancing skill is
    a known attribute (4, 2, 6 and 7 respectively)

Questions to answer
  • Give the proponents for women
  • Give the resulting couples, assuming women with
less offers choose first, and that if there is a
single alone woman, she gets the remaining man
  • Is the average distance to women with this
Contract Net any better than a random arrangement?
