that brought down King Arthurs reign.

  • The Round Table dates from1270.
  • It was used by the King as his court for the
knights to avoid quarrels over precedence.
  • Each knight had equal value to the king.

  • The Knights were men of courage, honour, dignity,
courtesy, and nobleness. They protected ladies
and damsels and undertook dangerous quests.

Lancelot and Guinevere
  • Lancelot fell in love with Guinevere, when King
Arthur discovered this he sentenced her to death.
  • Lancelot rescued her and took her to his realm.
King Arthur left Britain to make war on his
    former knight.

8
The end of King Arthur
  • While away, he left Mordred in charge.
  • Mordred rebelled and Arthur returned to defend
    his crown.
  • This led to Arthur's last battle where he slew
Mordred, but was himself gravely wounded.
  • He was carried off in a barge, heading for the
vale of Avalon. Some said he never died, but
    would one day return.
  • However, his grave was supposedly discovered at
    Glastonbury, Somerset.

legend including
