  • Created by Mary C. Davis Library Media Specialist

2
Its Your Responsibility!
  • Anytime you do research, it is your
    responsibility to CITE the sources
  • in which you find information.
  • This is the part of research called
  • ETHICAL USE.

3
When you act in an ethical manner, you do the
right thing.
When it comes to doing research, the right thing
is to cite your sources of information whether
they are...

The format or medium doesnt matter.
5
What Does Matter
  • is that you give credit to any author or
producer or other originator of information that
you use to support your thesis statement or main
    idea.

6
Within the text of your product, you provide
brief parenthetical citations for the source to
which you are referring. The following is an
example of a parenthetical citation Numerous
studies show that the practice of Sustained
Silent Reading (SSR) has a positive effect on
student comprehension (Krashen, 44).
7
At the end of your product, you provide a Works
Cited list with a complete description of each
source you used. The example below is a citation
for the Works Cited list for an article in a
print magazine Krashen, Stephen. "Free
Reading." School Library Journal Sept 2006 43.
