The Charisma Diamond Setting your Style. Your
Unique Diamond Setting is multi faceted and
combines your figure, your life style and the
projection of how you see yourself. However in
ninety percent of cases the most flattering
Diamond Setting is dictated by your figure type.
The importance of understanding your figure
cannot be underestimated. Many women have trouble
even looking in the mirror to diagnose their
figure. They are not alone, it is a national
consciousness. However if you can think of your
body and how you dress, purely as a blank canvas,
and just as the great painters did, realise that
all you are doing is deciding where to put the
lines. Then you are designing to the greatest and
most flattering effect. The huge benefit of this
is you will begin to feel better about yourself,
you will have disassociated from all the grief of
recrimination about your body. You will look at
the overall picture objectively and gain on
confidence and self esteem. All you are doing
with clothing styles is deciding where to put the
different line to gain the greatest and most
flattering effect. The lines you are working with
are length of jacket, necklines, hem lines,
shoulder lines, scarf lines, jewellery lines,
crossover lines, bias cut lines, anything that
crosses the body and literally makes a line. If
you can begin to think of your body in this way
then there are no recriminations about size of
bum, size of bust, love handles, weight. You
disassociate and see yourself as a whole entity.
You may also begin to lose weight because you
are focusing on your good points instead of
concentrating on your perceived not so good
points and being in a constant state of guilt and
longing for what is NOT there instead of working
with what IS there and is UTTERLY WONDERFUL!
There are two other factors in deciding your
best Diamond Setting, one is life style, and the
other the projection of how you see yourself. The
first needs thought as to the proportion of time
spent in different occupations, even make a
percentage list of your day and how much time is
spent working, caring for children, entertaining,
doing your sport. The second factor is how you
see yourself, as Arty? Sophisticated? City chic?
Country Casual? Classy Classic? So turn over,
lets look at your fabulous diamond figure and
discover how to really make your radiance shine
and your carats glow. And please remember to
concentrate on the overall picture, and stop
focusing on those perceived not so good
points. Thats when real change happens and you
get really clever with the way you look.

Dramatic. Madonna, Naomi Campbell, Lisa
Evangelista, Paloma Picasso, Donatella
Versace. You always want to make an entrance and
often use sharply contrasting colours to create
effect. You mostly always look striking and this
can often be due to your physical
characteristics. Height, hair colour, or just
how you are. Striking clothes that make a
statement. All this can be combined with the
other diamond settings. You love The Oscar Dress
for evening. You love hats, big jewellery, but
not too much, when in fashion big shoulder
pads. High Heels. Black and white together.
Red. Fur. Make up, you would NEVER be seen
without eye make up and MASCARA. Red
lipstick. You love a fake tan in the summer,
outgoing, larger than life. Dynamic. Not for the
faint hearted and sometimes needs to be dressed
down for the office. You love clothes and study
the magazines.
Creative. Vivienne Westwood, Helena
Bonham-Carter, Sienna Miller, Kate Moss, Gwen
Stefani You are good at combining all sorts of
different styles and types of clothing, and can
look really creative, arty and unique. However
this look can become a burden when old items are
never thrown away and the look can become
muddled. Beware and really LOOK in the mirror and
ask what you are trying to say with your clothes.
Am I arty, thrifty, intellectual, or just a plain
muddle? Your wardrobe is full of different
articles. Shopping is an art form. You like
charity, retro and vintage shops and TK Maxx. You
will make interesting purchases on holiday,
(beware they can look interesting when you get
them home!) It takes a lot of skill to pull of
this look and as you get older needs care so as
not to look like a too old student, or a thrift
shop lady. Done well it is very successful, large
statement necklaces in semi precious stones and
jewels, large belts, silk jackets from China,
dangly earrings. Funky hair in not natural
colours.
9
Romantic Nicole Kidman, Elizabeth Hurley,
Kylie Minogue, Sarah Ferguson. You like to be
feminine, feminine, feminine. Bows, lace, silks,
soft ruffles and flounces, basks. Pretty
underwear, bras that give a shape. Perfume,
body products. Your sports clothes are pretty and
feminine and in lovely colours, your business
clothes are pretty and feminine and even in soft
colours. Good franchises for you are Karen
Millen, Zara, Escada, some of Per Una, Fen Wright
and Mansen, Ghost, some of Phase Eight, Laura
Ashley, H and M, Matalan. Applique, ribbons,
luxury fabrics, angora, cashmere, silk, satin,
feathers, fur. Always heels from sandals to boots
to evening wear to slippers. Marilyn Munroe. Big
hair softly curled and layered, even with
decorations, and if put up for any reason, then
soft curls escape and the most beautiful
clips.
Classy Classic Diane Keaton, Meryl Streep
(especially in The Devil Wears Prada) Your look
is timeless and elegant, but be careful unless it
becomes unglamorous and boring. You have kept the
same hair style and make-up style for
years. Always co-ordinated, usually not textured,
not really a follower of fashion, you love good
quality co-ordinated separates, evening wear is
simple. You may wear ballet pumps a lot and high
heels are not a must for you. Your challenge is
to make sure that you wear a stronger make up in
the evening and do not be afraid to change your
hair every three or four years. Keep your eye on
fashion and learn from the European women who do
this look extremely well. Good franchises for you
are Hobbs, Phase Eight, Jaeger, some of M and S,
Armani, Donna Karan and if feeling rich and
adventurous then Nichole Farhi. To change your
look you can add very easily an arty jacket to
your wardrobe. A good red lipstick. Some whacky
earrings, a fabulous long scarf in bright
colours, Kenzoish. And do not forget to mix some
good costume jewellery with the real thing.
10
Natural Julia Roberts, Lauren Hutton, Vanessa
Redgrave, Kate Winslet, Katherine
Hepburn. Comfortable, unstructured clothes, flat
shoes, natural fabrics, minimal jewellery. For
evening smart/casual sums you up. You may also
put clothes together in an unstructured and
rather clever and feminine way. You will not wear
much make up and what you may wear are all-in-one
products like tinted moisturiser. Donna Karan,
100Lino, some M and S, some Per Una, some Hobbs,
some Jigsaw are good franchises for you. Linens,
cashmere, silk, often natural jewellery i.e
made of wood, shells, beads, glass, jade, leather
laces, and top all this with a good casual hair
cut that is easy to blow dry. A shoulder bag, in
canvas, squashy, again unstructured, casual.
City Chic Catharine Deneuve, Honor Blackman,
Look at any business magazine for big Solicitors
firms in London. You dedicate time and though to
the way you look, and enjoy your clothes although
you are not fanatical. You may have a lot of
clothes in the same colours. (Different shades of
black!) Often very good quality, but these
clothes and this look can be emulated very
successfully by those on a lesser disposable
income. You go for a tone on tone look, and
always wear a jacket of some sort, even if it is
hot you wear a shirt like a jacket to cover your
arms and to look efficient in your office. Good
franchises for you are Armani, anything Armani
look alike, Boss, some of Karen Millen, its good
suits with great tops underneath, leather
jackets, matt foundation, neutral lipstick with a
darker shade in the evening. Never dangly
earrings, in fact never anything dangly. (This
gives Gypsy connotations). You can really
brighten up your look by wearing a strong
contrasting colour under your jackets and at the
weekends go for a far more relaxed and
unstructured look for a change.
11
Tips for Self Confidence Clothes are all about
how YOU feel in them, so watch out and if an
article does not make you feel good, DO NOT ON
ANY ACCOUNT WEAR IT. THIS IS THE GOLDEN RULE
WRITTEN IN STONE. Never ever wear anything that
has got tight for what ever reason, ever. By the
end of the day you will feel wretched and your
self esteem will be at rock bottom. Never ever
wear clothes to use them up if they do not
give you a good feeling about yourself. If you
really want to use them up polish the floor
with them. In terms of cost they are not worth
the deficit on self confidence. When purchasing
clothes remember to divide the cost of the
garment with the times it will be worn, to give
its real value. A great handbag used every day
for five years, even though it was more than you
wanted to pay does not owe you anything. BUT the
CHEAPO BARGAIN that you could not resist, that
lies unworn for the rest of time, or only worn
once, is a FAR GREATER MISTAKE FINANCIALLY. If
you doubt me go to your wardrobe with a
calculator now and do the sums. Lastly remember
clothes are meant to be worn and enjoyed, not
kept for that special occasion, till they are
long out of date, still unworn and unused. ENJOY
FEELING GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF
Inverted Heart Your hips are broader than your
shoulders, which are often softly rounded like
the tops of your arms. The top half can appear
small, with a defined waist. The top of the thigh
is often a bigger measurement than the hip, so A
line skirts or bias cut look lovely and feminine.
The big thing to remember is that the shoulder
MUST fit, DO not get huge tops because they fit
the bottom half. This will make you look square
and we will lose the lovely shape of your curves.
It does not matter if you have to leave a button
undone in order to get the shoulders to fit.
Jackets and tops must finish below or above the
widest part on your hips and bottom. Wear tops
that draw the eye upwards and jewellery that
draws the eye upwards. Trousers MUST be plain and
flat fronted with a side zip. Bootleg or flares.
Separates will work better because of the fitting
of your top and bottom. Avoid jeans ( too many
pockets), straight skirts, details on skirts and
trousers, halter-necks and raglan sleeves. The
aim is to bring balance so for the bottom half
wear fabrics that are soft and fluid and drape
easily, wool crepe, jersey, bias cut fabrics and
silk. For the top half cotton, linen, some
texture and all types of woollen fabrics. Good
franchises, Phase Eight, M and S, Per Una,
Jaeger, Country Casuals.

12
Rectangle What defines your figure is very
little waist definition. You have a straight
shoulder line, straight hips and bottom and rib
cage. You can have a fuller bust that gives a
softer edge than the Lean straight. It is often a
very sexy figure. Sometimes some people will have
to avoid frills and all the rules opposite apply,
however if the bust is a good bust then cross
over dresses, ruched diagonal tops. The very best
trousers for you are the grown on waist band
type with a side zip, so there is no waist band
to attract attention. In the main keep it simple,
but as I say if there is a good bust there often
seems to be more chance to choose some curvy
little jackets or tops. It is difficult for a
Straight or Lean straight to be a very romantic
style because of the lack of curves, they are
usually more City Chic, Natural, Dramatic, or a
very Classy Classic.
Lean Straight Narrow shoulders, lean limbs,
modest bust, non defined waist, narrow hips and
bottom. Wear clothes that are straight, not
curvy, your bust can look good with some detail
on it, and good bras perhaps containing fillets
can add just that bit of shape. Avoid at all
costs gathered skirts, in fact gathers will look
very odd even on a sleeve frills, belted
jackets, pleated skirts, even in some cases
pleated trousers. You look good in below
natural waist trousers and belts. Belts MUST be
curved. Go for straight, A line and gored
skirts. Dresses that are Princess line, never
try and be a curvy person, you will look
extraordinary. Sadly for the straight figure any
dress can look extremely odd. Not for you those
super sexy ruched dresses for evening, rather go
for silk satin hanging straight, or a pair of
sexy trousers and little neat top. Or a fabulous
skirt to show off those lovely legs. Princess Di
was a Lean straight at the end of her
life. Straight and Lean Straight often look good
in halter necklines, bolero jackets and shrugs.
13
Hourglass Feminine with lovely full curves, a
good bust, small waist, rounded bottom, rounded
hips. Wear clothes that are fluid and shaped,
avoid like the plague stiff heavy materials and
anything bulky. Go for clothes that have a shape
and are not straight. Not for you straight skirts
unless they contain Lycra, you need A line skirts
and side zip trousers. Remember not to buy
trousers with a front zip which necessitates up
to six layers of fabric over the tummy. Beware
trousers and jeans with lots of pockets and the
dreaded cargo trousers, ( who do they suit?) You
look good and sexy in cross over tops and shaped,
wrap or bias cut clothes. Often these people go
for the romantic, Liz Taylor, Marilyn Munroe, the
most famous of all Sophia Loren. Please avoid
absolutely straight tunics, crisp fabrics, baggy
sweaters and sportswear, too much
layering. Remember USE those curves and revel in
them, those that havent got that full bust often
wish they had!
Neat Hourglass A defined bust and waist, and
neat bottom, your top and bottom are the same
size. You have a defined waist. Avoid clothes
that do not define your body, they will make you
look fatter, you need to have figure fitting
clothes that do NOT hide your body. So do not
wear boxy jackets, straight tunics, mens shirts
unless that is all you are wearingbaggy sweaters
and sportswear. You can wear most patterns, and
look good in knits and medium weight fabrics,
gabardine to wool crepe. For the evening you look
good in basques as do the hourglass, and the
Oscar Dress. You need some shaping in the waist
bands of your clothes, either darted or with some
gathering at the back. Like the Hourglass whose
waist bands may gape unless there is good
shaping. Tops will look good shaped, crossover
and wraps, and jackets should be fitted with
waist definition. Where swimwear is concerned you
are very lucky as you can more or less wear any
style that makes you feel good. Franchises that
are good for you are Per Una, Jaeger, Karen
Millen, Jigsaw, Phase Eight, Planet, in fact most
makes. However do watch the length of back.
14
Heart shaped Defined by soft rounded shoulders,
a very good bust and narrowing to a smaller hip.
The most important thing to remember is to buy
tops that fit the SHOULDERS even if the jacket
does not meet in the middle. It is important to
keep the shape of the top half as it can put on
pounds if the shoulders are too wide. A little
shoulder pad to add HEIGHT NOT WIDTH does often
help, indeed I have clients that will never be
seen with out their little pads. You work best
in separates. The Heart shaped figure is very
specific to clothe and needs thought and
understanding. As a general rule your best skirt
shapes are gored, straight, and A line. Trousers
need a side zip and flat front so as to show off
the slim bottom half. Little neat jackets look
good. As a general rule steer away from long
straight jackets that hang from the shoulder.
Oval Your problem area is your middle so
anything that draws the eye away from your waist
is great. You have rounded shoulders and the top
of your arm is also round. Make sure your clothes
hang from your shoulders, even if they are
smaller than your middle. Avoid stiff fabrics,
gathered waist lines, too big patterns as there
is an awful lot of them. You have the ability to
look very dramatic within the confines of
cardigan jackets, simple lines, and for work
there are some good suits that add shape and
authority. Try and always wear a little heel
with trousers as well as skirts. Add drama with
dramatic colour contrasts, and jewellery. Soft
fluidity is the watch word of the day. This
figure type is liable to diabetes so do have
tests and if constantly thirsty go to your
doctor. Elvi, Planet, Marina Ripaldi, Chesca,
Debenhams, Spirito (on the web) Elegance,
Artigiano, Paul Costello, all have lovely
clothes. M and S incorporate a size 20, and the
others mentioned incorporate to size 30.
