  • Paper Two contains questions on the Depth
    Studies.
  • Depression and the New Deal the USA 1929-41
  • The World at War 1938-45

What is being assessed?
  • Paper 2 assesses historical knowledge of the two
    Depth Studies.
  • You will need the knowledge to make sense of the
    sources by placing them into their historical
    context.
  • You will need historical knowledge to answer the
    15 mark interpretation task.

What is being assessed?
  • Paper 2 assesses you ability to think like an
    historian to use historical sources to research
    and communicate about the past.
  • There will be five historical sources and four
    questions that enable you to show what you have
    learnt and what you can do.

What will the sources like?
  • There will be five historical sources.
  • One will be a picture or photograph.
  • One will be a graph or diagram.
  • Three will be written.
  • The three written sources will contain different
    interpretations of the past.

  • Carries 4 marks.
  • It has two parts information finding for 2
    marks, ie. What can you learn from Source A about
    .?
  • Making inferences or judgements about the source,
    by spotting facts, opinions or omissions, ie. The
    source also suggests that

  • Carries 6 marks.
  • You have to compare three sources.
  • This is because historians compare sources for
    similarity and difference.
  • To what extent does Source C support the evidence
    of Sources A and B about the effects of the
    Blitz.
  • Make sure you focus on the topic you are asked
    to compare.
  • State what Source C says about the topic.
  • Compare this with what A and then C say.
  • Remember to compare N(ature), O(rigin) and
    P(urpose) of the sources as a part of your answer.

  • To will have to comment on the usefulness of two
    sources.
  • How useful are sources D and E as evidence of the
    impact of Blitzkrieg?
  • You must compare content/nature, author, when and
    why it was produced.
  • Remember to focus on the actual question, which
    is about usefulness (and limitations) for a
    particular task.
