• In 3th year of General Civil Engineering

  interchanges, sight distance,..)
• /2/h theory /2/h practice by week , /2/
  professors
• In the next year a new curriculum by TU Dresden
• with a specific chapter about Road Safety.

• Pavement Engineering Road
• (Geotechnical Highways, Highway Materials,
  Method of HMA Design, Pavement Design Methods, )
• /2/h theory /2/h practice by week
• /2/ professors

• In Master Degree
• Advanced Traffic Engineering
• - Traffic statistics
• - Traffic lights Systems
• - Traffic lights Program
• - Traffic lights design method (Webster,
  Pignataro)
• /4/h theory by week (for one year)
• /1/ professor

Teaching Methods

• Lectures using whiteboard (about 100 students
  divided into 2 groups)
• Sometimes supported with PowerPoint in Master
  (about 8 students).
• Some questions and discussion during lecture
• Practice in small group (Exercises, problem, ..)
• We havent evaluation at the end of the course.

Web base Learning

• 2 General Laboratories for CAD Training
  Internet.
• 1 laboratory with /20/ computers, scanar,
  printers internet for engineers professors.
• A computer in each office.
• The internet speed is slow.
• Website Baath-univ_at_sy.net information.

What about our project?

• New Curriculum
• The new curriculum about road safety will be
  applied in Master course as a part
• (one semester) of the Advanced Traffic
  Engineering course.

• This Tempus project may provides our faculty
  with required knowledge (information
  experiences) related to road safety
• - (products such as monitoring systems , road
  paints , signs..etc)
• - (books, references, Electronic library )
• - (New reports and survey results and its
  updates in deferent countries)
• This knowledge can be transferred to road safety
  authorities in Syria by our staff graduates
  through out studies and consultancies.
