Overwriting Default Pages
  • The default pages that may be overwritten are
  • index (About Us)
  • index (Research)
  • index (Services)
  • Some links to default content will appear on left
    hand navigation bars
  • Research National Programs and Research Projects
  • Products Services Publications

Database Driven Content
  • The fundamental attraction of having pages filled
    dynamically with database content is that there
    is no need for webmasters to update them
  • Dont make a publication or personnel listing
    yourself use the database driven default ones!

Management unit location
  • When there is only one management unit at a
    location, why are there 2 distinct sites?
  • We are diligently working on having the 2 sites
    rolled into 1
  • Site allocation is done on a modecode basis, so
    that is why there are 2
  • All work will be preserved

Publication Listings
  • Publications must have an acceptance date to be
    displayed (NOT a submitted date)
  • Publications are strongly encouraged to link to
    the article at the publishers web site
    (Publishers URL)
  • It is your office's responsibility to keep ARIS
    up to date with this information

Person Specific Sites
  • Future
  • Scientist pages with right hand links to their
    research interests, resume, collaborators,
    non-publication products, etc.

Search (iapreview)
  • Not yet functional coming soon
  • Search by location, area, all of ARS
  • Local search is the default

Left navigation links
  • Links on the left navigation bar must be to pages
    within the same category
  • Links on the right navigation bar can be to pages
    outside the category
  • Links in the body of the page can link anywhere

Site image
  • Each site has the ability to upload an image to
    display in the upper right hand corner for all
    its pages
  • Upload delete now available
  • Library of images to choose from coming soon

Contact Us
  • Each site will have its own Contact Us
  • Site specific designated categories and contact
    person (routing of email)
  • Select contact person from list, or type in a
    designated email

News and Events
  • Now available for areas, locations, management
    units in SitePublisher
  • When populated, will show up as left navigation
    bar links in the News Events category
  • Time sensitive enter time frame to display item

Time Frame
  • Deadline for the population of 4 pages is July 23

Phases
  • Phase 1 Rolling out of new ARS web site with
    sites (7 categories) for all areas, locations,
    and management units July
  • Phase 2 OCIO Web Branch working with individual
    site webmasters content owners to complete
    migration/attrition October
  • Phase 3 OCIO Web Branch rolling out support for
    dynamic web page development including CGI, ASP
    and other technologies
