Introduction
  • In Unit II we have been discussing money
    management. We have examined pay, benefits, and
    working conditions as well as federal income tax.
  • It is important to understand where federal
    income taxes originated and why we must pay them.

Introduction
  • The IRS Taxi History activity will take you from
    the Whiskey Rebellion of 1794 to the Fairness and
    Income Tax of 1909 detailing along the way the
    who, what, why, where and when of taxes.

  • By completing this activity, you will be able to
    answer the following questions
  • Who invented taxes and why?
  • Why are taxes so important?
  • Why are certain things taxed more than others?
  • Whats fair about the money being taken out for
    taxes?

  • Join Sherri Shine and PJ Fly on a taxi ride
    through tax history. In order to complete the

  • After you have recuperated from your trip, answer
    the questions on the previous page in a one- to
    two-page typed report.
