What is a single pole switch?

• It is the only switch on the circuit
• It opens and closes the positive wire

Remember

• Romex three wire cable
• SEP Service Entrance Panel
• Black Wire Hot
• White Wire Neutral
• Bare or Copper Wire Ground

Wiring the Hot wire

• When wiring you always begin at the SEP (service
  entrance panel).
• Black or hot wire comes out of the SEP and goes
  to the switch
• Connecting to the top brass screw
• Black wire leaves the switch from the bottom
  screw, and goes to the light and is connected to
  the Brass screw on the light

Wiring the Neutral wire

• The white wire leaves the SEP going to the switch
  and then is rat tailed together with the neutral
  wire going to the light
• The neutral wire is then run to the light and is
  connected to the Silver screw on the light.

Wiring the Ground Wire

• The ground wire leaves the SEP and runs to the
  switch were it is rat tailed with the other
  ground that is going to the switch
• Once the ground wire gets to the light it will
  either be attached to a ground screw, or if there
  is not one it will be attached to a screw that
  attaches the light to the ceiling.

• With the group that you are assigned after
  numbering off you will work on wiring a single
  pole switch. You will use yarn as your wire
• Black Hot
• Blue Neutral
• Green Ground
