The Science of PCP
PCP, aka Phencyclidine, derives from the chemical
name Phenyl Cyclonexyl Piperidine. PCP was first
developed as an anesthetic in 1959. It was
discontinued a few years later due to its extreme
and sometimes bizarre side effects. PCP
predominantly effects the central nervous system
along with blood vessels. It is primarily
metabolized in the liver. Clinical effects then
occur in minutes and sometimes last up to eight
hours. Even low doses of PCP can lead to severe
psychological trauma.

The Street Drug
Since Phencyclidine is used rarely for medical
purposes it is considered to be street drug.
On the street it has a variety of names created
by its users names such as peace pills, killer
weed, rocket fuel, sherm, embalming fluid, the
most popular angel dust and many others. PCP is
known to be a frequently laced drug. So often
times people will buy drugs that contain PCP that
theyre not aware of. This gives the user a high
that they in most cases are not ready for and as
a result many people die from PCP laced drugs.

6
The law regarding PCP
PCP is controlled under the Misuse of Drugs Act
as a Class A drug. This puts it in the same
category as cocaine and crack, ecstasy, heroin
and LSD. Maximum penalties for supplying are life
imprisonment and a fine. Maximum penalties for
possession are 7 years imprisonment and a fine.

The History of Angel Dust
PCP (phencyclidine) was developed in the 1950s as
an anesthetic. Use of PCP in humans was
discontinued in 1965, because it was found that
patients often became agitated, delusional, and
irrational while recovering from its anesthetic
effects. PCP is illegally manufactured in
laboratories and is sold on the street with names
such as killer weed The variety of street
names for PCP reflects its bizarre and volatile
effects.
It was first introduced as a street drug in the
1960s and quickly gained a reputation as a drug
that could cause bad reactions and was not worth
the risk. Many people, after using the drug once,
will not knowingly use it again. Yet others use
it consistently and regularly. Some persist in
using PCP because of its addicting properties.
Others cite feelings of strength, power,
invulnerability and a numbing effect on the mind
as reasons for their continued PCP use.

PCP Testing
When 5-minute Testing for PCP was introduced it
soon became a key element in any drug free
workplace program. It allows the tester to track
the most widely abused drugs and take remedial
actions. Today PCP test kits are used throughout
many hospitals.
10
My thoughts on Angel Dust
Personally I think PCP is not cool.
In my opinion I think PCP serves no purpose in
life unless you want to commit suicide. I think
people who use Phencyclidine have a death wish.
11
SUMMARY
PCP is a very bad drug with many names to get
confused by. It is addicting and damages the
brain. It causes user to have extremely
unpleasant side effects. These effects can
persist up to a year afterwards. PCP is illegally
made in labs and sold on the streets.
