Classen SAS Requirements for VPA
  • At least 2 classes each year in major area as
    designated by each VPA department
  • Preferences
  • --Other fine arts or academic classes to enhance
    major VPA area, i.e. tech theater for dance
    majors, IB Theater Arts for drama majors, German
    for music majors, yearbook for visual arts majors

Other Expectations Possibilities
  • VPA Certificate
  • Issued by department chairs to students who have
    meet a more stringent/rigorous arts course load
    for their high school years.
  • Concurrent Enrollment
  • Seniors must meet college entry requirements for
    concurrent enrollment and must drop some Classen
    classes (state gives fee waiver for tuition for
    up to 6 hours)
  • Metro Tech Programs
  • --for students with disabilities who choose a
    more hands-on training than college will provide
  • Combination of IB core classes with VPA arts
    curriculum
  • --Students must meet prerequisites and academic
    requirements for the IB coursework
  • --If there is a scheduling conflict, arts
    classes must take priority
