  involved, so that we can become an even more
  pro-active and democratic Branch.
• If you work for Barnardos in and part of the
  organisation you can have time release to do some
  or all of these tasks!
• UNISON WORKPLACE REPRESENTATIVE
• UNISON is much more able to support groups of
  members in workplaces in which you have one or
  more UNISON workplace representatives. This is
  because we can provide more effective support
  through
• -regular information mailings
• -local access to advice and assistance
• -clear communication
• -access to local / national training
• -structural support for negotiation,
  representation with Barnardos
• UNISON has three types of workplace
  representatives, workplace contacts, health
  safety reps and members representatives
  (stewards) The roles are outlined below.
• Workplace Contact  this role includes,
  distributing information within your workplace,
  keeping the notice board up to date, handing out
  application forms. Keeping up to date with Branch
  development
• Health Safety Reps -  you will have the right
  to attend training and to raise issues which
  affect the health safety of members, locally
  and nationally, within the Branch.
• Branch Steward- A UNISON rep, who is  locally
  elected, whose role includes organising,
  recruiting, and representing members. You will be
  allowed time off for training and relevant
  meetings.
