  • More than 1 million Australians are excluded
    from mainstream life and employment due to
    disability, illness or other disadvantage
  • Australia has seventh lowest employment rate for
    people with a disability in OECD
  • 81 of people without a disability are in the
    labour force
  • BUT
  • For those with a mental illness 29

  • For indigenous Australians 57
  • For refugees and asylum seekers 58

ACT Hub Our Purpose
  • To work with entrepreneurs, community
    organisations, businesses and government to grow
    and develop social enterprises in the ACT that
    are
  • self sustaining and
  • that increase employment opportunities for people
    that are disadvantaged in the labour market.

  • One young mother who due to mental health issues
    had not worked for many years, received training
    and support and part-time work but has recently
    relocated to Toowoomba. Now she has a CV with
    details of her job skills and referee.
