• RHIC spin flipper

• magnet consists of two coil,
• each has 7 turns. The two
• coils can be either in series
• for the spin flipper or in parallel
• for beam dynamics studies
• magnet length 1.15m
• magnet assembly weight 120 lb
• Location sector 3 in the IP4 area
• spin flipper is cable of flipping the
• spin of the beam in one ring without
• disturbing the other
• with 100 G-m field, the spin can
• be flipped in about 2.5 seconds

• Status

magnet installation of the two ceramic beam pipes
and the magnet support structure are in
process. both magnets will be manufactured by an
outside company. The quoted delivery time is 14
weeks. power supply transmission lines were
ordered. cables will be pulled during the
shutdown. look for alternatives while we are
waiting for testing the powertron power
supplies. capacitor hunting is progressing control
s chassis and a power PC were ordered use
existing module to generate the low level driving
signal design of power supply control is in
progress use digital scope for magnet data
acquisition
