Benefit Weakness of Investment Logic Mapping

• Benefits
• Buy-in by senior stakeholders, including DTF (3 x
  2-hour workshops)
• Concise summary of logic loved by senior
  government officials
• Lot of effort goes into getting the logic right
• Great tool for discussion with stakeholders
• Weaknesses
• Difficult to get commitment from senior managers
  for planning meetings.
• Process oversimplifies project.
• Lacks detail

• Q. Why two consultancies?
• A. Hard to get broad spectrum of skills across
  one firm
• Difficulty keeping consultancies sufficiently
  discrete in scope, reporting and communication
  with key stakeholders.
• Benefits different perspectives on the issues
• Biggest surprise cost neutral with using one
  firm

• Confirmed progress against project objectives
• Validated concerns of project management team
  other stakeholders held similar concerns.
• Highlighted weakness eg lack of community
  engagement
• Informed planning on governance processes for
  Stage 2
• Gave the project credibility with senior
  government officers and politicians
• An important stakeholder engagement with around
  100 interviews.
• Provided options for the project team to consider
  wrt governance and future evaluation.
