and water consumptions in municipal buildings - Anticipating the entry into force of the Building
Directive by encouraging a bottom-up-oriented
approach, thus preparing the grounds for any
implementation
3 Buildings Directive article 7
- Member States shall take measures to ensure that
for buildings with a total useful floor area over
1,000 m2 occupied by public authorities and by
institutions providing public services to a large
number of persons and therefore frequently
visited by these persons an energy certificate,
not older than 10 years, is placed in a prominent
place clearly visible to the public. -
- The range of recommended and current indoor
temperatures and, when appropriate, other
relevant climatic factors may also be clearly
displayed.
4The Building Directive
- The proposed measures
- Application of a methodology of calculation for
the integrated performance of buildings (Common
Framework) - Setting of performance requirements in new and
existing buildings (national or regional level) - Certification schemes for all buildings
- Display of the certificats in the public
buildings - Transposition required until January 2006
5Assets of Display

non-specialists - Encourages the population to take action
- Promotes the municipalitys in-house initiatives
- Has been elaborated with and by the cities
- Can be used everywhere in Europe
6Why joining Display?
- Opportunities for energy savings and cost
reductions arise - Positive PR due to the voluntary and anticipative
realization of a European Directive - Image profits as a result of the display of
