Title: LIGHT ENERGY

1
LIGHT ENERGY!
  • BY RICHARD BROWN

2
The Heat Of Light Energy
  • Light energy is the ability of light to cause
changes in matter such as heating matter. For
example, you can feel light energy change to heat
energy when the sun warms you up.

3
Natural and artificial light sources.
  • Natural light sources are things that are not man
made but made by themselves. An Artificial light
source is something man made. For instance
lightning, fireflies, and stars are a Natural
light source. Artificial light sources are
candles, light bulbs, and video games. Light
    comes natural and artificial sources.

4
TRANSPARENT!
  • Matter lets most light pass through is called a
transparent substance. One Transparent device is
a Triangular prism. A Transparent device lets you
    see clear.

5
TRANSLUCENT
  • Translucent only lets some light through. One
substance that is translucent is sunglasses. When
light energy strikes matter light energy slows
    down.

6
OPAQUE
  • When matter does not let any light through is
called OPAQUE. AN Opaque devise is a brick, some
    types of wood, and rocks.

7
THE COLORS OF THE LIGHT SPECTRUM
  • The colors of the light spectrum is red, orange,
yellow, green, blue, and violet. These colors
have a nickname called roygbv ( red, orange,
    yellow, green, blue, and violet).

8
WHY WE PAINT THESE THINGS THESE COLORS?
  • We paint stop signs red and buses yellow due to
the fact that it is easier to see. Why
sweatshirts are blue due to the fact that paints
and chemicals are in it plus the white color
    makes it see easier.

9
CONCAVE MIRROR
  • A concave mirror is a mirror you dont want to
reflect light on. When light strikes a concave
mirror the reflects every where. When light hits
off this mirror it is unpredictable where its
    going to go.

10
CONVEX MIRROR
  • A convex mirror is a flat mirror. This mirror is
what you want light to reflect off. When this
mirror gets hit off of light it is predictable
where the light is going to go.

11
LENSES
  • A Convex lens makes you far sighted. A concave
lens makes you see nearsighted. So if you are
near sighted then get a convex lens but if you
are far sighted then get concave lens. This is
    how glasses work.

12
Refraction
  • REFRACTION is the bending of light. For example
if a ruler is in the water it looks like its cut
in half but, it isnt cut in half it is refracted.
