Foreshadow
  • Foreshadow means to give a hint about something
    beforehand.

3
Foreshadowing
  • One example of foreshadowing is Our eyes
locked.pg 9 That foreshadows that ES and Small
will meet again. Which they do and ES and Small
    become very good friends.

4
Foreshadowing
  • Another example of foreshadowing is The high
priest scolded at Smoke Shell. When you heard of
these savages, why did you not tell the war
captain and the other warriors? His voice was
stern. page 34 This foreshadows that the high
priest does not like Smoke Shell and eventually,
he has him thrown into the well.

5
Symbolism
  • Symbolism means something that represents
    something sometimes with symbols.

6
Symbolism
  • One example of symbolism in the book is The
Savages bodies were painted blue, the color of
sacrifice. Page 50 This symbolizes the color
    of sacrifice.

7
Symbolism
  • Another example of symbolism is The Counts of
Days lasts the same amount of time it takes for a
baby to be born after its mother first knows the
child is inside her. The Count of days
    symbolizes about 9 months.

8
Interdependence
  • Interdependence means depending on someone or
    thing.

9
Interdependence
  • One example of interdependence in this book is
the Mayan people have interdependence with Blue
Quetzal to help them if they are sick etc.

10
Interdependence
  • Another example of interdependence is the Mayan
people have interdependence with their king King
Flint Sky God and when they dont have a king
everything gets messed up. A great example in the
    book.

Review Summary (did you like the novel and
why?)
  • I think that this book is very interesting. IT is
also very suspenseful. I really enjoyed reading
this book. My favorite character was Evening Star
Macaw. I also liked Blue Quetzal. I really did
not have a favorite part of the book I liked it
    all.

Conclusionand recommendation
  • I would certainly recommend this book to someone
who is not into to much violence maybe a little.
Who enjoys reading. I wonder if Chris Eboch has
written more books. If I were a criteria I would
give her five stars on an awesome book! Now go
    away and read it!
