Assignment Help
  • WSJ project 3 Real time strategic initiatives.
  •  This project is designed to help get into
position for Case 2 and the Great Case
Competition. One of the key success factors for
that competition will be to support your
assertion that the strategic initiative you are
proposing is a good one. In class, youll learn
about a checklist for assessing the quality of a
strategic initiative, and will apply that
checklist to the company you explore in Case 2.
This assignment will allow you some hands-on
practice in doing that for a different firm.
Over the period of the assignment, you will have
the opportunity to peruse the Journal for a
detailed, in-depth article that describes a
pending or emergent strategic initiative for a
firm. (Any firm you like.) Apply the criteria
presented in class to the initiative described in
the article. In three pages or less (not
    including support materials, appendices, etc.)
make the case for whether the strategic
initiative appears to clear each hurdle in the
checklist (or not). Provide some evidence for
each point. (As you can tell, youll want to
begin with a very detailed article. The more
information thats presented in the article, the
less youll have to draw from outside sources to
determine the quality of the initiative.)

Assignment Help (contd)
  • present the core findings of your analysis in a
    10-minute presentation to the class,
  • 5 minutes of QA.
  • not simply to present your paper
  • but summarize your industry (less than a minute)
for the benefit of the audience, and then move
directly into what you learned from the five
    forces analysis.
  • Which of the forces is/are most critical at this
point? Why? What did you take away from these
analyses in terms of understanding the
attractiveness of this industry? Would your
consulting firm recommend entry into this
    industry?
  • Rather, we want you to convey the insights that
    your industry analysis has yielded.

A Really Bad PowerPoint Slide Looks Like this one
does
  • Instead of capturing two or three main words
students oftern try to type nearly word for word
what they are going to say on their powerpoint
    slide.
  • Another problem is that peploe often for get to
to use spell check or to proof read
  • It is much easier to read words thathave the
    first leatter capitalized Like This
  • It is very distracting to make frequent use of
flashing clip art or other features to jazz up
    the slides
  • Remember that the smallest font you should use is
    size 20
