  • Does it matter if the UK uses the euro instead of
    the pound?

  • In Business Studies you will learn how businesses
    are run
  • How they react to changes and stay successful
  • You will learn business skills in finance, HR,
    production and marketing
  • You will learn practical skills and background
    knowledge to help you in whatever career you
    choose
  • Remember, in the end we all work in businesses so
    its good to learn about them!
  • In Economics you will learn how the worlds
    scarce resources are shared out
  • How the UK Government tries to make the most of
    our resources
  • By trying to control unemployment, inflation,
    interest rates and the exchange rate
  • You will also look at how businesses and
    individuals make economic decisions
  • For instance about how much to spend or save,
    whether to work or stay at home

  • AS Level in Yr 12
  • Three modules cover the following topics
  • Business start up, sources of finance, setting
    business objectives
  • Marketing, finance, HR and production

  • The A2 completes the full A level in Year 13
  • Coursework on a business of your own choice
  • Further HR management
  • Business strategy

The attributes you need to succeed
  • confidence with basic maths such as percentages
    and ratios
  • ability to analyse situations, justify your
    opinions and express yourself clearly in writing
  • a keen interest as wide reading and research will
    be expected, using books, newspapers and on the
    internet

  • AS level in Year 12
  • Three modules cover the following topics
  • The market system
  • How the Government intervenes to correct failing
    markets
  • The national and international economy

  • The economics of work and leisure
  • The UK economy
  • Economics in a European context
