Title: How does culture of the country influence peoples lifestyle

1
How does culture of the country influence
peoples lifestyle?
  • What Russians think of England

2
Almost all have an opinion of the British.
  • We watch British TV programmes, see James Bond
films and read detective stories by Agatha
    Cristie.
  • Children read British books like
    Winnie-the-Pooh and Alice in Wonderland.

3
Britain images
  • When we think of the country, we think of London
which itself is covered with fog. The average
British man wears a bowler hat and carries an
umbrella. He waits in a queue for the bus, eats
fish and chips, and drinks a lot of tea. He has a
servant everyone in Britain does and he has
    great respect for the Queen.

4
The behaviour of the British
  • Everyone admires the behaviour of the British,
although no one would ever want all their social
rules. We think of the British as being perfectly
polite and proper, always knowing which fork and
knife to use, always saying please, thank you
    and excuse me.

5
The English language
  • The British are quaint, but in a nice way.
British English has words and structures that
have not been used in the US for a long time, so
    it sounds old-fashioned or formal.
  • Britons are also famous for their reserve and
their stiff upper lip, i.e. for not showing
    their feelings in public.

6
People who have been to Britain have some
negative impressions to add to the positive.
  • The British are snobbish and do not seem very
friendly. The famous British reserve seems cold
to Russians who communicate in an open
    enthusiastic way.
  • Overcooked food, the smallness of the houses, and
the weather which is always dull or rainy, are
other favourite complaints of visitors to the
    old country.

7
  • But in spite of these facts, the view of
Britain is, in general, very positive and for
many tourists, going to Britain is almost like
    going home.
