Title: Prayer Walking

1
Prayer Walking
  • Praying Onsite With Insight

2
Prayer walking is intercession on location, with
information, in cooperation, against opposition,
for glorification.
3
And it will be saidBuild up, build up,
prepare the road!Remove the obstacles out of
the way of my people.Isaiah 5714NIV
4
Why Pray?
  • God is about a multitude of purposes at the same
time. Since we are a powerless people we MUST
go to the Father for a revelation of His will and
His strategies for reaching the unreached.
  • We need to gain the mind of Christ regardless of
what we may think is important. God may have
other priorities. We may end up spending our
time in confession, repentance, and change. We
may need to deal with our pride first before we
    can press through in intercession.

5
Prayer is the opposite of what our flesh says
is the way to get things done
6
Purpose Of Prayer Walking
  • Worship Recognizing and exalting God where He is
    not known or praised.
  • Warfare People and areas untouched by the gospel
have remained that way because the enemy has held
them captive (2 Corinthians. 44). We are not
picking fist-fights with the enemy, but rather
asking God to contend with the evil.
  • Welcome Prayer teams help usher in the healing
and restoring work of Christ's kingdom in advance.

7
Our primary purpose as prayer walkers is to
talk to God about the people, not talk to people
about God
8
Steps To Basic Prayer Walking
  • Praise, prayer, scripture reading clear the
mind and set the tone of engaging in God's work.
  • Partner with each other to agree in prayer (where
two or three are gathered in My name...).
  • Walk and pray.
  • Report re-assemble to report prayers, insights,
    answers, and God's goodness!

9
Walk And Pray
  • With open eyes for insightresponsive,
    researched, and revealed insights.
  • Out loudso your group can hear and agree with
    you.
  • With Jesus! Talk with Him about what you see and
feel. Be sensitive to His guidance.
  • Sometimes in silencelistening is half the
    conversation.
  • Reinforcing and multiplying each others
prayersbuilding on and not always changing the
    topic.
  • With scriptureblessing, requests, etc. Gods
way. For example, from Colossians 19 you could
ask God to fill those you see with the full
knowledge of His will in their lives.
  • With relevancepray for what you see as you walk.
  • Think bigger than yourself! Leave your personal
list of burdens at home and go out on a mission
    for God.

10
But What Do We Pray?
  • Ask God to reveal the things that are on His
    heart.
  • Ask God to pour out His blessings on individuals,
families, and households that you pass by.
  • Proclaim Christ as the answer to the neighborhood
    problems.
  • Pray for any people in positions of leadership
that come to mind as you walk.
  • Declare Christs truth in a place filled with
    falsehood.
  • Praise God that it is His desire for the people
    you see to know Him.
  • Pronounce blessing in the name of Jesus on the
    people and places you see.

11
Prayerwalking Is Intercession
  • Its a method
  • 68 of the prayers in the Bible
  • Closing our eyes is only a method and like
prayer walking it is not found in your Bibles
    concordance
  • Dont worship the method, its not the end
product, its only a means to get the end product

12
Prayerwalking Is On Location
  • Jesus didnt stay out in the wilderness praying
    for LazarusHe went onsite
  • Lifestyle prayingPraying without ceasing.
  • Some folks while onsite, get their call from God
to come back to minister to the people long term.

13
Prayerwalking Is With Information
  • Study the profile of the unreached people group
(UPG) to whom you are going
  • Listen to the testimonies and insights of those
    involved in long term mission
  • Ask God to reveal to you certain strongholds that
need to be broken down through prayer and worship

14
Prayer Walking Is In Cooperation
  • Praying in agreement with each other
  • and with God. (Matt. 1820) This verse
  • is greatly abused by Christians. We think when
    we agree together on something
  • weve got it. Not sowe must get in agreement
    with God. Prayer walking
  • gets us in tune with Gods mindHis will.

15
Prayerwalking Is Against Opposition
  • For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but
    against principalities, against powers, against
the rulers of the darkness of this world, against
spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians
    612 KJV
  • We are NOT on a witch hunt or looking for demons
under every bush. Focus needs to be on Godnot
giving any glory to the enemy
  • In Pauls ministry, seeking out power encounters
was not pre-eminent. In Acts 16, Paul didnt
immediately confront the demons, it was only
after several days that he got annoyed and then
    rebuked them.

16
Prayerwalking Is For Glorification
  • Not for our fame, not for our gratification, but
    for Gods glory alone
  • Not plowing the ground, not sowing the seed, but
moving the rocks. But we must not stop at that.
Gods glory goes beyond moving rocks, it becomes
    a reality in multiplication.
  • Prayer is not the end product, its the means to
the endthe glorification of the Lord Jesus
    Christ!

17
Practical Pointers
  • Normal prayer we clasp our hands, bow our heads
    and close our eyes
  • Prayer Walking we pray with open eyes and with
    our heads raised.

Eyes closed is for focus on God and for blocking
out other thoughts. However, in prayerwalking we
keep our eyes open and heads up to take in our
environment and pray onsite with insight.
18
Prayer works.
Prayer is work.
Prayer leads to work.
Prayer is the work!
