Prevention
  • Stay away from people who carry guns.
  • Try to solve arguments without violence, which
    you will probably regret later.
  • If you feel like hurting someone, talk it out
    with someone you trust.
  • If you feel sad or have thoughts of hurting
yourself, tell an adult that you trust, like a
parent, a school counselor, a teacher, or your
    doctor.

21
Prevention What to do if you find a gun
  • Stop!
  • Don't touch it!
  • Leave the area!
  • Tell an adult!
  • Never pick up a gun or point it at anyone!

22
Gun Safety
  • Treat Every Gun As If It Is Loaded.
  • One common mistake with semi-automatic handguns
is to assume the gun is unloaded because the
magazine has been removed. Often, a bullet is
sitting in the chamber because the chamber was
    not emptied.
  • Unlike medicine, food, cars and other consumer
products, guns do not have tomeet any minimum
    product safety standard.

23
Gun Safety
  • Encourage those people you know (parents, older
siblings, friends, etc) who own guns to use
trigger locks (available at Dicks for 5.99).
  • Unlike aspirin bottles, most guns can be operated
by the tiny fingers of a 3-year-old. Make sure
that people always store guns safely.
  • Even though it might seem like a good idea, dont
buy a gun for protection. The odds are 100 to 1
    that youll regret it!!!
