GEOGRAPHIC AND ECOLOGICAL AMPLITUDE INDEX
In this study a new index was created in order to
assess the habitat specialization. It has built

Conservation
22 genera have at least one taxon under
conservation status.

Endangered species overlap
We overlap the potential distribution of 63
protected species (NOM, CITES I and IUCN).

Conclusions
Nuevo León is the 2nd state with more cactus
species in México 170 (63 endangered)

42
The GEAI can be used on decision making, for
conservation and legislation purposes.
The area needs to be divided in geographic
operative units (like squares, hexagons, etc.)
Geohintonia mexicana
43
Now we have the potential distribution maps for
170 species, and necessary information to help
conservation efforts in the state.
