Title: Narrative writing

1
Narrative writing
  • Components of a Narrative

2
Narratives are Fictional
  • Story telling
  • Not real, imaginary, made up
  • Opposite of non-fiction which is based on
    factual true events or information

3
Narratives have a beginning, middle and END
  • Most narratives are structured using this type of
    format
  • The plot is the related series of events

4
Narratives have a conflict and a Solution
  • Usually a problem is introduced at the beginning
    of a narrative
  • By the end of the story the problem is solved,
    but not always
  • cliff hangers leave the reader wondering

5
Narratives have imaginary characters
  • The Protagonist is the central (most important)
    character in the story
  • The Antagonist usually stands in conflict against
    the protagonist

6
Narratives have Dialogue
  • the speech of characters as opposed to that of
    the narrator
  • Always in Quotation Marks
  • Example.
  • Stop bothering me! said Johnny.
