Good Study Techniques
  • Set a regular study time
  • Study in blocks of 1 hour at a time followed by a
    break
  • Study most difficult subjects first
  • Review each subject at least twice a week
  • Keep up with daily homework in your agenda
  • Keep a weekly schedule and daily activity list
  • Make sure study area is well lit
  • Turn off the radio and TV while you study

  • Listen actively think before you write
  • Take and keep notes in a large notebook
  • Take down only the main points from the lecturer
  • Listen for cues as to imp. points (transition
    from one point to another, repetition of points
    for emphasis, changes in voice inflections)
  • Copy everything from the board
  • Ask questions if you are not sure

  • Read the title, introduction, summary, boldface
    headings and subheadings, review graphics, and
    any reading aids in the chapter
  • Formulate questions for yourself as you the read
    the chapter
  • Read one section at a time
  • Dont get bogged down in detail
  • At the end of the chapter refer to your
    questions, cover your answers and see if you can
    answer the questions from memory

    night BEFORE)

  • Avoid distractions
  • Read directions thoroughly
  • If nervous - Take a few deep breaths
  • Answer easy questions 1st difficult ones last
  • 1st hunches are usually correct
  • Bring tools (pencils, paper,brains), get
    comfortable, and THINK before answering
  • Be well rested, and THINK Positively
