Where is Hyde Park?
Richmond Ontario Settled in 1812 and named after
the Duke of Richmond the village was selected by
the British Army in 1818 as the site for the
areas first military settlement. Richmond
continued as an autonomous municipality until
1974 when a provincial reorganization amalgamated
Stittsville and rural Goulbourn with Richmond to
form the new township of Goulbourn. In 2001,
Goulbourn Township was incorporated into Ottawa
and the Village of Richmond officially became
part of the City of Ottawa
