CRUST

• Made of solid rock
• Broken up into plates
• Size- between 5-70 km (3-43 miles)deep
• Coolest of the 3 layers
• Crust has landforms
• Oceanic crust- basalt
• Continental crust- granite

MANTLE

• Made of magma or hot rock.
• The mantle is divided into three sections based
  on the physical properties lithosphere
  asthenosphere and lower mantle.
• About 3000 km (1 864 miles) thick.

MANTLE--Lithosphere

• Upper part of the crust and the mantle
• Lithosphere is divided up into plates

MANTLE--Asthenosphere

• The rocks are so hot they are plastic like.
• Although it is soft it is still solid. Think
  of TAFFY!!

CORE

• Hottest of all layers.
• Made of iron and nickel.
• Is about 3486 KM or 2166 miles.
• Is divided up into the outer and inner core.
• The outer core is liquid iron and nickel.
• The inner core is solid iron and nickel.
• The inner core is under a lot of pressure which
  makes it solid.
