  • Advisory Committee was established to develop the
    National Scenic Byway Program

  • The NNAC composed of representative of federal,
    local and states agencies and selected groups
    with particular expertise.
  • On June 19, 1998 President Clinton signed
    reauthorization of ISTEA. Called Transportation
    Equity Act for the 21st. Century (TEA-21)

  • Navajo Nation Scenic Byway In 1992 in
    collaboration with NDOT we initiate the Scenic
    Byway Program
  • Subcontract with NDOT Planning section and
    development the Scenic Byway designation of N-12
    N64 as Navajo Nation first scenic road
  • 2000 Dine Tah Scenic road was designated as a
    state scenic
  • 2002 the Dine Tah Scenic Road received FWHA fund
    of 123,200 match from the Fuel Excise tax for
    32,800.

  • 2004 state roads on Navajo Nation designed by
    state as scenic roads
  • 160 from Tuba City to Kayenta
  • 98 from Cow Springs to Page
  • 191 from Mexican Water to Many Farms
  • 134 Junctions N-12 to Sheep Springs
  • 491 from Gallup to Shiprock

  • 3,8 million dollar Interpretative and Market
    Center in Monument Valley. Partners include
    ADOT, UDOT, San Juan County, Utah Travel
    Tourism Department 4CEC and others.
