Shawook School
Shawook School was recently renovated in the Al
Abassi sub-district. The renovations will
provide a better learning environment for the 200
students that attend the school. The renovations
included repairing the walls, desks, planting
trees, repairing lighting, and installing fans.
The project cost 11,400 and was funded by CERP
funds. The renovations employed 14 workers for 6
weeks. All the labor was hired from the local
area.

Hawija Public Health Buses
On Thursday, 15 July, LTC Leith attended the
dedication of 4 vehicles to the Hawija hospital.
The vehicles will be used to transport medical
staff throughout the district. The vehicles were
purchased at a total cost of 50,000. After the
dedication, LTC Leith visited the hospital and
gave the head of the hospital the 200 needed to
repair the hospitals two ambulances.

Al Yau School
Al Abassi sub-district council conducted a final
inspection for Al Yau Primary School for Girls.
Al Yau school was renovated with CERP funds for
9,600. The project employed 12 workers from
local area.
Al Yau Primary School educates over 150 girls
from the local community. The renovations
included the installation of new windows, ceiling
fans, and repairing the walls and electricity.

Al Yawa Water Project
WHO Alpha Company, TF 1-27 Infantry and Hawija
City Council WHAT Task Force 1-27 Infantry
spent 16,500 to provide the installation of 4 km
of piping to housing. WHEN June WHERE Al Yawa
in Hawija Sub-District WHY The Multi-National
Forces understand the importance that water has
on the functioning of a community. The water
pump and storage containers are a long distance
from the living areas. This made it a burden to
get water for cooking, cleaning, and
drinking. WHAT WAS DONE The CERP funds were
used to 4 kilometers of piping of two different
sizes and the couplings needed to fit on the
pipes. The funds were also used to pay for
installation of the pipes. BENEFIT TO THE
COMMUNITY The water project brought water to
over 70 houses. The project also employed over
30 people from the local community during the
digging of the lines and installation of the
piping.

Graeb Ulya Water Project
The Graeb Ulya Water Project was dedicated in the
Al Abassi district on 16 July. The project
provided water tanks, a water pump, pipes from
the water and to the town, and a fence around the
facility. 6 local employees were hired to
complete the project.
CPT Bockholt, FSO for TF 1-27, coordinated and
supervised the implementation of the project. The
project will provide water to the 800 people of
Graeb Ulya. The total project cost 16,000. The
Graeb Ulya Water Project was funded through CERP.

Huwayjah Village Signs
The Hawija sub-district recently completed the
creation and installation of village signs. The
village signs will assist all the people in the
district in recognizing the different towns. The
signs will also increase pride and ownership the
communities have towards their villages.
99 signs were created for the sub-district, and
20 people were hired to create and emplace the
signs. The total project cost was 10,880.
