of the APEC process.
  • APEC projects respond to Ministers and Leaders
    calls for action.
  • APEC Projects cover a wide range of activities
    and are aimed at enhancing economic growth and
    prosperity of the Asia-Pacific region.

The APEC Central Fund
  • APEC Members contribute annually to a Central
    Fund to support the APEC process through the APEC
    Secretariat. A high proportion of this fund
    supports APEC projects.
  • In the APEC 2005 Year
  • Thailands contribution was 50,000.
  • APEC approved 426,430 to fund Thailands
    proposed/co-sponsored projects.

The BMC
  • The BMC prepares the budget for APEC and
    recommends the approval of projects.

  • The BMC also monitors and evaluates project
    management and makes recommendations to Senior
    Officials Meeting (SOM) for improved efficiency
    and effectiveness.
  • The BMC meets twice a year, in March and October.
  • In 2006, BMC I will be on 29-30 March and BMC II
    on 10-12 October.

Urgent Projects
  • Urgent projects arising out of the
    Ministers/Leaders process in November should be
    put forward to the Secretariat by
  • 15 January of the following year (for
    intersessional approval by the BMC, in cases
    where funding is required before the end of
    April) and
  • End of February (for consideration by the BMC at
    its March meeting. The BMC will not consider
    requests for urgent funding intersessionally in
    the four weeks prior to a BMC meeting).
