Absences and Tardies
School Hours- 745-245 The doors open at 715.
Students are tardy at 745 and are considered
absent at 930 Please send a note if your child
is absent.
6
DINOBEAT
Dinobeat is every Friday morning beginning at
745. Students may sit with their parents, but
must remain with their parents until the end of
the program and may not sit with other students
parents. Tardies are counted when arriving late
to Dinobeat. Students not accompanied by an
adult who arrive late will go to the library for
supervision.
7
Dismissal
Car riders will be dismissed out front. Please
have car tag with you to ensure safety and
efficiency. If you wait on the front porch for
your child, please tell a first grade teacher
that you have your child. We have so many first
graders and its hard to lead the children out
and make sure they are getting to the right
place. Safety is our 1 concern for your
child! Walkers and bike riders are dismissed
through the 2nd grade hall. Daycare- Please
call your daycare ahead of time if your child is
sick or wont be attending daycare. This helps
get daycare students out more quickly.

  • Dodd uses a school-wide discipline system.
  • Color Change Chart
  • Monday- Every child starts on award.
  • If a rule is broken, he/she loses their award
card for the week. They will be on dino green
(D), followed by green (G), yellow (Y), and red
(R). If a child gets to red, the parent will be
notified and they are usually sent to see Mr.
Evans. The next day the child will start on dino
green again. Award cards are returned only on
    Monday.
  • I will write the reason a color was changed in
the communication folder. However, it is your
childs responsibility to mark their folder at
    the end of the day.
  • I give a verbal reminder or redirect the student
before giving a color change in most instances.
(At the beginning of the year they usually get at
least 2 verbal warning before a color change is
    given)

rules Spelling homework will be given weekly. A
spelling rule and examples will be on the back of
the calendar every Monday. Your child will need
to write 10 words that fit the rule. Homework
will be given on Monday to be turned in on
Friday. (a list of activities are given to each
child) There will be a test on Friday to test
knowledge and application of the rule. A spelling
list will not be given. This prevents
