How To Design a Poster for Printing by the
Instructional Support Center The purpose of this
PowerPoint slide is to provide guidelines and
policies for poster printing in the ISC. It may
also be used as a template for designing your
poster. ISC Locations Gladfelter Hall Rm.

Getting Started
You must complete ALL of the following steps 5
business days prior to pickup
The poster must be created and formatted using
the following guidelines. Failure to follow these
specifications may delay the printing of your
poster. 1. The poster must be created on a
single slide in Microsoft PowerPoint. 2. The
dimensions of the slide must be 56 wide by 34
high. 3. To set the dimensions, select the File
menu, then select Page Setup. 4. At the Slide
Setup screen, select the drop-down box under
Slides Sized For and select Custom. Enter 56
for the width and 34 for the height. 5. In the
Orientation area select Landscape for the
slides. Ignore Notes, Handouts, and Outline.
6. Click the OK button to complete the slide
setup.
Step 1
Obtain proof of payment in the form of an
approved Journal Entry Transfer (JET) form.
Faculty must provide proof of payment in the
form of a JET payment receipt at least 5 business
days prior to the date the poster is needed
before using the poster printer. Faculty can
obtain a JET (Request for Journal Entry Transfer)
form through his or her Administration Office.
The cost per poster is 35 (60 for posters with
color backgrounds). Fees for the poster will be
credited to the Computer Services account. Under
no circumstances will the ISC accept cash for
poster printouts.

Inserting Text Boxes

Text boxes such as this one will most likely make
up the majority of your poster. To insert a new
text box 1.Choose the Insert menu and select
Text Box 2.Click on an empty area of the slide
and begin typing To put a border around the text
box such as this one 1.Right-click on the text
and choose Format Text Box 2.Choose the Color and
Lines tab and under Line click the drop down box
next to Color and select a color 3.Click OK and a
color border will appear around your text box You
may also choose a Fill color for your text box
from the Format Text Box menu by selecting a
color under Fill

Grouping Objects
Grouping Objects bonds objects together, which
can aid in designing a poster. To Group
objects 1.Select any number of objects by
Control-clicking them 2.Once you have the desired
objects selected Right-click on one of the
objects and choose Grouping from the pop up menu
then selecting Group Grouped objects will now
function as a single object and can be moved and
resized together. Note, Grouping is temporary
and can be undone by 1.Right-clicking on the
Grouped objects and choosing Grouping and then
selecting Ungroup from the pop up menu
